Herzog Special Reserve Cabernet/Zinfandel/Syrah, California. This fun blend of three different grapes that shows the sum may be greater than the parts. Ripe red fruit, lush tannins and a long finish mark this unusual wine. The Cabernet contributes focused tannins and structured acidity, while the concentrated, old-vine Zinfandel adds classic jammy fruit and ripeness. A small amount of Syrah adds smoky notes on the nose and some spice in the finish.
