Founded by the Alfasi family in the heart of an enchanting and secluded oak forest at 1100 meters above sea level in the northern Golan Heights, Odem Mountain Winery is Israel's northernmost winery. Merlot grapes are grown at the Alma Vineyard in the Galilee Mountains. Climate there is cold in winter, while in summer is characterized by cool misty nights and typical Israeli sunny days, though moderate in temperatures. Volcanic Merlot was aged in fine French oak barrels for 12 months, a process resulting in an intensely-red colored wine. Fully-bodied with soft tannins, the aroma and flavors are of ripe black fruits and vanilla, emphasized by hints of pepper and chocolate, leaving a long smooth soft finish.
