Produced in very limited quantities using Cabernet Sauvignon grapes that were grown in Napa Valley, it was then aged for 32 months in French oak barrels. While many wine consumers are unaware of the wide variance of character between barrels of a single lot of wine, the Herzogs were keen enough to observe this phenomenon long ago. Using this technology. a few barrels were selected for extended aging and then blended to create this outstanding wine.
